Where Can You Eat Halal in Tokyo? 29 Places to Eat and 10 Places to Pray by Area (Status from Official Pages, 2026)
Checked 2026-09-28 · Updated 2026-10-27
We checked every place below on 28 September 2026 on an official page — the restaurant's, the airport's, the mall's, the mosque's or the certifier's — and each has a "source" link. Statuses are written in the source's own words; we don't upgrade them. Halal status can change: confirm at the restaurant before eating. The ramen shops (Honolu, SHINJUKU-TEI, GYUMON, Shunpudou) were rechecked on 27 October 2026; the summary is in section 2F.
Short answer. If you stay in Asakusa or Ueno (family hotels there), halal food is closest: 9 places in the Asakusa–Ueno area, including wagyu yakiniku with a prayer room. But read the status: only one place on our list names a certifying body (Shoutaian Kanda, on NAHA's list); most say "certified" without naming one. Two things many families don't know: Tokyo Disney has no halal food inside the parks or at any Disney hotel (official FAQ), and Narita T1 and T2 have restaurants whose kitchens are halal certified, before security.

1. Four kinds of status: read these first
| Status | What it means | Examples in Tokyo |
|---|---|---|
| A · Certifying body named | The official source names the body (here: NAHA's list) | Shoutaian Kanda; for products only: Honolu's soup and noodles (JIT) |
| B · Says certified, body not named | The restaurant's, airport's or mall's page says "halal certified" without naming the body | Ninja Yakiniku, SHINJUKU-TEI, GYUMON, Honolu, PANGA, Narita restaurants |
| C · Halal ingredients / no pork or alcohol | "100% Halal Food", "halal-certified ingredients", without claiming the restaurant itself is certified | Shunpudou |
| D · Muslim-friendly menu / tag only | "Halal menu available", "Halal compatible"; some serve alcohol | Honolu Haneda, Mrs Istanbul (Haneda) |
| O · Cooks or staff mentioned | Added to another code: the official page says something about the owner, the cooks or the staff | SHINJUKU-TEI (Muslim staff), GYUMON (Muslim chefs and staff) |
Japan has no JAKIM, and 7-Eleven, FamilyMart and Lawson hold no halal certification. Ask at the counter: "Halal certified? Which organisation? Alcohol?"

F. Halal ramen: four chains (rechecked 27 Oct 2026)
We reopened the official pages of four ramen chains, and the certifier's page, on 27 October 2026. None of these four chains says on its official pages that its owner is Muslim. What they do state is a product certificate, Muslim staff or halal ingredients; the table shows which.
| Chain | What the official page says about halal | Staff / cooks | Prayer | Price | Sources |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Honolu (Asakusa, Akihabara, Shinjuku-gyoemmae, Ebisu, Haneda T3) | A (products) + B (shops) · JIT (Japan Islamic Trust) certifies the operator's (Asset Frontier) soup powder, soup ingredients and noodles: a product certificate, not a restaurant certificate. Ref. CIII-0151, status Active, valid until 12 Nov 2027.
